In case you've wondered why I haven't posted for the last week or so, it's because I've been in the hospital.
I'm kind of tired of explaining it to every nurse who walks by, so I'll tell y'all about it later. ^_^

Aww thanks so much Ruuk. *hug*
I'm so glad this hospital as wifi. =P Got sent here after 4 days at the other one because my lung wouldn't heal on its own, so I need surgery.
All right, let's start from the beginning. Monday morning, I walked from my apartment to the library to check my e-mail and miscellaneous web messages. I noticed my chest tightening up and figured I'd better go try to stretch my back out and/or lie down, so I headed home. Halfway there, my chest tightened to the point where it took all of my willpower just to inhale. I managed to climb the stairs to my apartment and call 911, then hobble down to the main street to wait for the ambulance.
Mostly what I remember after that is nurses taking my vitals and telling me to relax. They took an x-ray to diagnose that my right lung had collapsed, and stuck a tube between my ribs under my right arm to re-inflate it. What actually happens is that a weak spot on the lung that has been stretching for who-knows-how-long (called a "bleb") pops and air slowly leaks out into the surrounding cavity. The pressure keeps the lung from inflating, so the tube is inserted to suction off the excess air.
Ah crud, this window has been minimized for like 18 hours, and I have to reboot. XP

Oh my gosh! I didn't see this post before now! I am so sorry I didn't reply sooner. That sounds really scary! I hate having tubes shoved into 'random' spots of my body. I hate the hospital and all the uncertainty in there is really scary! This must be really painful, you are in my prayers and thoughts. Please hang in there, we're all rootin for you back here *HUG*

Thanks so much! ^_^ I love seeing how much everyone cares. What I think did it (or at least what pushed it over the edge) was lugging a TV up a flight of stairs to my apartment. ^^; Then the lung slowly leaked air for the next couple days before I had that weird attack. There's a suction tube in my side, pulling air out of the chest cavity so the lung can re-inflate. We've been waiting for the past week for the lung to heal, but it isn't on its own, so I have to go into surgery tomorrow so they can seal it for good. I played Scrabble with my Mom and I won 294 to her 257, it was a GOOD game! We started out with 3-letter words, as one does, then right quick I got SUAVE. Then near the end she got SEQUOIA! And we used every letter (without cheating) except one E. Great game. ^^

Broken: *hugs back* The weird thing is, I get more chipper when I'm sick. XD I think it may be that I'm fighting despair more than normal. =\ the uncertainty is quite maddening though. And thanks Jess, thanks to all of you. ^_^

Wow, your mom can spell seq...that word? lol. She'd kick my butt at that game, you must be really good! ;D Well I know you probably won't see this until after your surgery but I'll say it anyway, I'm gonna be praying for you big time. You make sure those nurses and doctors pamper you right.

Well, she had to ask me how to spell it. XD I grew up with my nose in a book, so I have a good vocabulary.
Stop it, I'm running out of ways to thank you. =P *hugs*

*hug* I agree with that comic >< And you aren't the only one who get's chipper when you are sick. I was the comic relief when I was going through my transplant, the cancer scare last year and every biopsy they do >.> well maybe not the biobsy... but certainly the transplant; being I almost died 5 times in the hospital- no joke, they tried killing me cause of their egos >.>

Oog... I'm out of surgery, but I'm less comfortable than before. The morphine is great, but I have an aweful fever... the doctor said it's normal; the pure oxygen they gave me caused some of my alveoli (the little balloon thing in the lungs) to collapse when I got regular air again, so my body thinks there's an infection when there isn't. Sooooo, instant fever. I have pics, will upload later.
Positive things, I now have full use of my arms and can play board games again. =D
