That sounds... Unusual. I would not want to take part of that, I mean, the first part isn't completely "OMG, they ought to be executed!" But just trying to have children for money and cars and refridgerators? I understand if it's for their country's beliefs and traditions, but how many kids want to know they were only spawned so their parents could get some cash. sounds kind of self centered to me.

That's an interesting idea. I'm not Russian, so I am unsure about all the real details of the living conditions, but I can understand the point of view. Having less people can be very bad for culture and the economy. In my region, there are several cultures that are suffering due to decreases in population. The Siglitun dialect of the Inuktitut language is nearly completely extinct from population decreases of people in that culture. When you have more people practicing a culture or language, the culture is stronger overall. Likewise, less people means a weaker and more forgotten culture. With the economy, more people means more workers, and more production, which means more money flowing. Up here, we have a lot of population fluctuations from year to year. Years with more people results in an economical boost for the community. Years with less result in a crash. If Russia really is in a demographic crisis, then I see nothing wrong with motivating their people to have slightly larger families. But just trying to have children for money and cars and refridgerators? If the people are that desperate and need those things so badly, then that is pretty good evidence that Russia's economy isn't in good shape. I believe their president that there is a crisis.
