If you know me, then you know I take my faith seriously (and that might actually be an understatement).. ...So when I first saw the previews for this I thought "oh yay, another attempt to make the Bible look stupid". I had already seen Bruce Almighty and thought it a poor portrayal of God's character. But then CBN did a segment on the new movie and I learned that at least one of the higher-ups on this project (producer perhaps? I don't recall) is a believer. CBN is actually endorsing this movie. So now I'm curious.. I have to see it. Have any of you seen it yet? If so, without spoiling the plot, could you answer some questions for me? 1) How much profanity is there in the movie? 2) Any inappropriate sexual references? 3) Is God portrayed accurately (according to the Bible)? 4) Is it a movie young kids would be safe seeing? (I have a 5-y/o and a 2 y/o) Thanks a bunch.

Other than giving his powers to someone else and taking a vacation, I thought they did a decent job with God, but I certainly don't approve of most of the things Bruce did with his powers. It was a rent-once-don't-buy type of thing, but it was pretty funny. Haven't seen Evan almighty. Yet?

I guess they didn't botch God TOO badly in Bruce Almighty.. One other example I can think of, aside from what you already mentioned, is that in the movie God said something to the effect of "people need to stop praying and solve their own problems"...or at least that's what I inferred. I half agree and half disagree.. I think people should actively seek solutions to their problems in most situations, but I also believe prayer is very important. For me, it's I disagreeurance that God has heard me and will cause things to turn out right. I DEFINITELY didn't like some of the things Bruce did with his "godly" powers.. lol.

Oh, I agree with that. But what God was talking about in BA was people praying for things like winning the lottery or stuff like that. "Parting your soup isn't a miracle, it's a magic trick. A single mom who works 2 jobs and still finds time to take her kids to soccer parcatice, that's a miracle. A tenager who says "no" to drugs and "yes" to an education, that's a miracle. You want to see a miracle, kid? Be the miracle." All that from memory.

i havent seen either movie and dont intend to... theyre not my kind of movies. One other example I can think of, aside from what you already mentioned, is that in the movie God said something to the effect of "people need to stop praying and solve their own problems" i can see a point being made with that quote... i know quite a few people who rely far too much on their faith and God rather than themselves :/ but what i do see from having God say something like that is to show he gets tired of things, too, and that kinda fits in with my perception of him i think id be more comfortable with a God like that than anything else lol.

According to the Bible he seems to want us to put our full faith in him, not ourselves. I don't trust myself as far as I can throw myself. ;D But I know I can trust him completely.
