a cheetah painting i did not very long ago for a contest on DA. it was my first time drawing a cheetah this has become my third most popular picture on DA ^^

the project i did today! i drew my friend's cat and hes sleeping. i think this is probably my best one because i went into a lot of detail and was less sloppy with it than my cheetah one.

oddly enough, i find realism much easier than doing cartoon-style XP i also am much quicker with it than when i do cartoon-style drawings. i just dont do it as much as my cartoon stuff because i actually find it more boring XD but its good to do every now and then since it forces your skills of observation to work harder and overall, i think practicing realism makes people more skilled artists . i also have to say that the best thing an artist can do (in addition to working with realism) is to try a wide range of subject matter. it opens your mind more by giving your mind a wider range of objects, textures and shapes to work with. by practicing many different things, youll understand more about the physical world around you ^^ though i must admit, one HUGE reason why i like trying new subject matter is because i get really really bored drawing the same type of thing all the time XD for example, lions...
whatcha think of them?
