It's always taken a long time for me to fall asleep at night, but I never realized how long until the other night when i set my clock so i could see it from my bed so I could try and maybe time myself on how long it takes. Well, I physically got into bed around 4:00 am. I was completely exhausted so I was sure I would fall asleep quickly, but I was dead wrong.
The last I remembered seeing the time on the clock was about 6:15 am so it took me a little over 2 hours to fall asleep, despite being mentally and physically dead from the rest of the day.
When I wake up, it's the opposite. I'll wake up at 10 or 11 am but not physically be able to get out of bed until around 1 pm.
Is this a healthy or normal sleeping pattern to have? Or is my internal clock being messed with from increasingly short daylight hours? Or should I even be concerned about it?
If anyone else has had sleeping issues in the past, feel free to share about your experience.
Thanks for reading. =)

well, im not sure if its normal, but its certainly not healthy. idk where u live, but.... well, exactly how short are ur daylight hours? like for me, i usually get to be at 10:00 ish & get up around 7:30 ish. (my moms a health nut so we hav lots of health books) in one of those books, i read that an average teenager needs 10 hours of sleep in every 24-hour period. maybe ur having trouble falling asleep coz ur body needs rest but, like u said, ur internal clock is messed up. that's all i know to tell ya. (look it up somewhere too... i'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer =P)

I'm no expert on sleep but it sounds like something is wrong.. Could be stress related or something. How are you during the day? Are you constantly tired, or do you feel normal?
The only sleep problem I've ever had is that I don't feel like going to bed at night (so I stay up until like 3 or 4, sometimes I don't go to bed at all) and have trouble waking up in the morning (I have to be up at 7am). Sometimes I take naps during the day, but I always feel tired and run down. The only thing that ever helped me was this stuff my mom takes called "Body Balance". It's like a liquid vitamin but not like the ones you get from a regular GNC. It has to be special ordered. Unlike other vitamins this stuff really works for me.. Keeps me feeling peppy, lol. And it set my sleeping pattern almost normal. If you want more information let me know, but it's kind of costly. ($50 for 2 bottles.)

It sounds like your internal clock is messed. Going to bed at 4 am is not healthy for a human. I would say try going to bed earlier and wake and get up at a certain time. I have 'suffered' from insomnia a lot in school. Stress and all that studying messed me up, I didn't sleep at all for 14 days straight x.x Something that my doctor has told me to try is Benadryl it will make you drowsy and will push you over the edge of sleep. It works for me now since I still am having alot of problems cause of 'stress' and all. But no, it is something to worry about, and it is not healthy. Try looking some stuff on the net? Of course as they 'little knowledge can be dangerous' These things at least help/ed me with my sleeping problems, at one point my doctor put me on colodanine (or how ever it's spelled) and it was a mild sedative, knocked me on I disagree for just half a pill. Bad part is I was drowsy the next day, all day >.> I think now my normal sleep is bed 10-12 (depends if I get lost in something) and wake up at 7 for work. I find the earlier I got to bed the more tired I am in the morning... it's like I am getting too much sleep.
