Kijana collapsed under a large bayobob tree, breathing heavily. "Still not far enough." he muttered. He was a beautiful golden color, with a reddish mane just starting to grow in. His red eyes took in everything; every detail of his surroundings. Kijana had just left his pride, and he hadn't stopped running for two days straight. But as far away as he was from his home, his family, he still felt like there still wasn't enough distance between them. "Just a few more minutes rest." he told himself. "Then I'll keep going."
He laid on his back and tried counting the stars. "Mkubwa and I used to look at the stars together all the time." he thought. "And I always counted more than he did." he said with a grin. Kijana was going to miss his big brother. He rolled back over and placed his head on his paws. Mkubwa was leader of his family now, they didn't need Kijana anymore. He was certain he wouldn't be missed by anyone except Mkubwa himself. "I told him my reason for leaving anyway. He said he understood." he paused and looked at a toad sitting nearby. "I'm not too young to be on my own like he thinks though." he said to the toad.
Kijana closed his eyes and tried to get to sleep. The more rest he got, the more energy he would have to keep going the next day.
ooc: I'm not sure how you would make an entrance here, Ruukah, but you're so creative anyway....I don't think you'll have any problems. Sorry 'bout not leaving much room to enter the story. DX

OOC: You did great! I can come up with something. I think I'll play Jenghis' pride this time if that's ok (let me know if it's not)... By the way, how are you & your family feeling today? A dark shadow fell over Kijana as he slept. A large creature stood over him at his head, its slitted eyes glowing yellow in the night as it glowered down at the young lion. Slowly it lifted a forepaw above its head and unsheathed five knife-like claws... Its eyes fixed on his neck...

Kijana's eyes flew open. The hair on his neck stood on end. Something was wrong. Kijana suddenly jumped up and looked around. He could smell the stranger was close. He didn't think to look behind him though....which is where the other lion stood; directly behind him. "Who's there?" Kijana said in the most grown-up voice he could muster.
*edit* i'm a bad guesser, but the lion u described about to kill kijana reminds me of masuko. is that who ur rping?

OOC: Good guess, but nope. It's not even a lion..hehe. Just wait. The beast pounded Kijana with his massive paw, knocking him forward. In an instant he was on top of him, pinning him down at the throat with the same paw. Now that he stood in the full light of the moon, his victim could see him more clearly. Black spots covered his golden body from head to toe, and a white-tipped tail lashed excitedly in the air above him. "Lionssss... I HATE lionssss..." He hissed hot breath in Kijana's face. "We're not fond of you either," a voice from behind said calmly. The leopard whirled around, still holding the young lion at the neck. "More lionssss..." He wrinkled his nose and exposed a mouth full of piercing white fangs. "Stay there, lion, or I'll slice your son's throat!" The sandy lion stood as tall as he could. He was easily bigger than the leopard, even without his full mane, which made him appear larger. "That would be a useful tactic indeed, if the boy were in fact my son. He's not," he said coolly. The leopard clenched his teeth and snarled a deep, throaty snarl. "You lie!" He pressed down harder. "He's not my son," the lion asserted. "But I assure you, if you take his life here I will find his father and deliver you to him myself to deal with as he wishes." The leopard curled his black lips back and hissed. "You and who else, loner?" The sandy lion stood still as another stepped out of the shadows, and another, both joining him at his side. The leopard's yellow eyes widened and he hissed again. Slowly he stepped off of Kijana and backed away. "Keep your whelp then," he spat. "I will kill him, and you, another day..." With that he turned and stalked off. The sandy lion approached Kijana. "Are you ok, kid?"

Kijana rolled off his back slowly to a sitting position. "I think so." he gasped. He held a paw to his throat and breathed a couple of times to make sure he was still alive. "Who are you?" he asked the newcomers, backing up a little. ooc: told u i was a bad guesser XD. and my family is doing fine now, except for my mom. she had to take an antibiotic to kill an infection in her finger. the antibiotic depleted her immune system so the stomach virus is sticking with her longer than it did the rest of us. but she's doing better than she was.

OOC: Aww.. Well I'm glad to hear everyone's better than before! I guess that means you're going to Peru after all, right? The sandy lion smiled slightly. "I suppose I can answer that. I am Faraji of Sera Imara. My companions are Eiros and Braden, and we're traveling this way to deliver a message." He walked a wide half-circle around the little lion, looking for any familiar markings but finding none. "And who might you be? A gur on his own can quickly fall prey to savage jaws in these parts, as you've seen. You should have at least one travel partner to be safe."

"I didn't have anyone to travel with. My brother was heir to the throne back at h...uh, my old pride and he's the only one I would go anywhere with. No one else likes me" he said hanging his head. He looked back up again at Faraji. "I'm Kijana;" he paused for a moment, thinking, then continued. "I don't really consider myself a gur though. I may still be young, but I'm a lion in here." he touched his chest. "After all, I've been on my own for almost three days now and...." Kijana stopped talking. He realized he didn't know these three lions, although he knew thier names. What if they couldn't be trusted? "And I think I've said too much already." he said sheepishly.
Kijana stretched and sat down looking at Faraji and his companions. He remembered what Faraji had said: "...We're traveling this way to deliver a message..."
"What message are you delivering, Faraji? I mean, I can understand if you wouldn't want to tell a mere gur." Kijana had never really learned to respect adults, and it showed. He felt rather foolish after saying it, but it was said anyway so he stood as if he didn't regret his words.

Faraji's smile broadened. Something inside him was impressed. "Perhaps you do have the heart of a lion, Kijana." He sat comfortably on the grass. Eiros and Braden silently joined him. "The message we carry is for Dojo of Kondo Tayari," Faraji continued. "That's all I'm at liberty to tell you, according to protocol. You understand."
OOC: Kondo Tayari means "battle ready" in Swahili.

"Oh." Kijana said, not fully understanding. "Well, I have a long way to go tomorrow. I have been running non-stop for two days straight and I'm really tired. So, I'll let you guys continue on your mission and I'll stay here and get some rest." He looked around nervously, remembering the leopard and wondering if he was still around. "I'll be fine." he said more to himself than to the other three.

"Now just a second there, Kijana..." Faraji's tail flicked behind him. "If you're traveling alone you're liable to end up as some other beast's dinner. What's your destination?"

"I have no destination. I'm just gonna keep going until I feel I'm far enough from home, I mean, where I came from. I don't really mind traveling alone. Besides, who would even want to go with me anyway?" Kijana said, sitting.

Faraji exchanged glances with Braden and Eiros, then looked back to the young lion. "How would you like to travel with us for a while? Maybe you'll find a safe place along the way."

Kijana blinked. "Really? Oh, no...no. I mean, it's nice of you to offer, but I'm good on my own. Besides, you guys are doing something important and I'm afraid I would only get in the way."
"It would be wise foh you to leesten to them, leetle one." came a voice from above them. Kijana looked into the tree's branches, but saw nothing. "He speaks the truth, my friend." The Kenyan accent was thick. "I haf been leestening to what you har saying. The lion, Fadajee right? He knos what he's tolking abot."
Kijana still stared wide-eyed into the tree. "Who's there?" he asked.

Faraji, Braden, and Eiros looked up simultaneously. Faraji raised an eyebrow. "Who are you?" he asked.

"My nem ees Chimelu. I haf been hearing you talk thees whole time. Fohgive me if I haf spoken out of place." he said, still hiding in the tree.
"What makes you think you can just tell me what to do?" Kijana nearly shouted at the branches. Chimelu chuckled a bit then said, "I haf leevd longah than you, my friend. Heed the weesdom of yoh eldahs. They haf kindly eenvited you to go weeth them so you won't be alone and mebbey eaten by a lahger aneemal."
"Well, I won't be eaten and I can do plenty good on my own. And why don't you come down here so I can see you?" Kijana said.
"I would come dohn, but I think I'm seffah up here. I don't know what four lions could do to a leopahd, and I don't want to find out, boy. The othah leopahd was fortunate to get away, but I might not be. I'd like to steh up here, if you don't mind."
Kijana drew in his breath sharply. A leopard? Another one? He put his paw to his throat like he did before and backed away from the tree a little. He didn't want Chimelu jumping down onto his back. Kijana shot a puzzling glance towards Faraji and his friends. He wasn't sure what to make of this leopard.
